This NATIONAL BESTSELLER, gives readers get a bunny’s-eye view of the vice president’s job from his real-life family pet. The story imagines Marlon accompanying Vice President Mike Pence, whom Marlon calls Grampa, to work, leaving from his home at the Naval Observatory Base and traveling in his big black limo and going from place to place — Pence has offices in both the West Wing of the White House and the Eisenhower Executive Office Building and also visits the Oval Office, the Capitol, and the big telescope at the Observatory. At the end of the day, the vice president shares a spiritual moment with Marlon: “At last Grampa gets out his Bible, / And quietly bows his head. / I place my paw on his hand / For one little prayer before bed.”

Parents need to know that Marlon Bundo’s Day in the Life of the Vice President is a patriotic picture book featuring real-life Pence family pet Marlon Bundo. Written by Vice President Mike Pence’s daughter, Charlotte Pence (Marlon Bundo’s “mom”), and illustrated by the vice president’s wife, Karen Pence, it imagine’s a bunny’s-eye view of the vice president’s workday, including riding in his limo, attending meetings, visiting the Capitol, talking to the president on the phone, and reading the Bible before bed. A three-page Resources section at the back of the book explains more about each stop in a kid-friendly way, with details such as, “The vice president works every day in the West Wing, where he has his own office down the hall from the president.”

“Mike Pence’s pet rabbit is the best thing about Washington.” —The Week

“Marlon is ridiculously cute and appears to be fully aware of that fact.” —The Washington Post

  1. My granddaughter thoroughly enjoyed this book. She loved the bunny and the story line. We made sticky note additions to multiple pages with notes about our own experiences in several of the locations. She also thought it was neat that the Second Lady and her daughter wrote and illustrated the book.

  2. A wonderful book with gorgeous illustrations. It was a great Easter gift for several families I know. I like giving historical books and this one was written by the Vice President’s daughter and illustrated by the current Second Lady of the United States. What a talent she is! The illustrations are so gorgeous.

Be careful that you buy this book and not the creepy homoerotic version. We got the wrong one and had to send it back!

  3. In this over sophisticated world we need books like these to remind us what really matters in life. A warm hearted short read. Enjoyable!

  4. I bought this expecting to not like it since I’m not a fan of the Pence family. I was curious though and the money from I goes to a good cause. I must say this book may be the one thing the Pences have done well. There is a small bit of reference to religion, they pray and read the Bible but those are things I also do; however I’m sure our prayers sound much different. Otherwise the book is actually very educational about the Vice President’s residence. I ended up giving It to a friend with a small child and she was also impressed with the educational angle of it.

  5. Charlotte has several kids books that are awesome. She’s taken a lot of heat from the weird left because she’s the VP’s daughtter but she rises above it so classy.

  6. This is a gentle positive glimpse of the Vice President. It gives an idea of what a day could be like for Vice President Pence from a unique point of view.

  7. We really enjoyed this book. Owning a rabbit and just getting back from a DC trip also was fun to see what our bunny would have seen if he went along with us!

  8. I loved this book also. It shows the white house and Marlon BUndos job in the white house. I love rabbits so much and it was just wonderful to me that our Vice President has a darling sweet little bunny who is very smart. It is cute and funny and just a joy to read and I loved the paintings too of the bunny and people who work and live in the White House.

  9. A lovely book written by a delightful young woman, who I hope will write more children’s books.

My kids loved the illustrations. Thanks Karen Pence!
